Thinking about replacing the windows in your Connecticut home? There’s an extra reason to consider upgrading in 2026.

Through Energize Connecticut, eligible homeowners can currently receive a $100 rebate for each qualifying ENERGY STAR® certified triple-pane replacement window installed in their home. The program is available to eligible Eversource and United Illuminating residential customers and runs through December 31, 2026.

That can add up quickly. If you replace 10 qualifying windows, for example, that could mean $1,000 in rebates.

But not every replacement window qualifies, and there are a few important steps you need to follow to receive the rebate.

Here’s the simple version.

What Is the $100 Window Rebate in Connecticut?

The 2026 Connecticut triple-pane window rebate provides eligible homeowners with:

$100 back for each qualifying replacement window.

The replacement windows must be ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane windows that meet the program's efficiency requirements. The program is offered through Energize Connecticut and supported by Connecticut's participating utilities.

The incentive is designed to encourage homeowners to replace older, less-efficient windows with higher-performing windows that can help reduce heat transfer through the home.

The current rebate period runs from:

January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.

Who Qualifies for the Connecticut Window Rebate?

There are several requirements homeowners should know about before ordering windows.

You may qualify if:

• You are an eligible Eversource or United Illuminating residential customer in Connecticut
• Your home is heated using electricity, natural gas, oil, or propane
• You are replacing existing single-pane, single-pane with storm windows, or double-pane windows
• The windows are part of the primary conditioned portion of the home
• You install qualifying ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane replacement windows
• The windows are professionally installed

A Home Energy Solutions℠ visit is recommended, but it is not required to receive the window rebate.

That makes this rebate relatively straightforward compared with some energy-efficiency programs that require homeowners to complete an energy assessment before becoming eligible.

What Windows Qualify for the $100 Rebate?

This is one of the most important parts of the program.

Simply replacing your windows with any ENERGY STAR window does not automatically qualify you for the $100 rebate.

The new windows need to be ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane replacement windows and meet specific U-factor requirements.

For most qualifying windows, the required U-factor is:

0.20 or lower

For qualifying triple-pane windows with grids, the program allows:

0.21 or lower.

What Is a U-Factor?

A window's U-factor measures how well it prevents heat from passing through the window.

The lower the number, the better the window is at resisting heat transfer.

For Connecticut homeowners, that matters during both sides of our climate:

• In winter, efficient windows help keep indoor heat from escaping.
• In summer, they help reduce heat entering the home while your air conditioning is running.

Triple-pane windows add another layer of glass and another insulating space between the panes, helping improve the thermal performance of the window.

How Do You Get the $100 Window Rebate?

Fortunately, the process isn't complicated.

Step 1: Choose Qualifying Triple-Pane Windows

Before you or your contractor orderis your replacement windows, make sure the products you're selecting meet the Energize Connecticut requirements.

They need to be qualifying ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane windows with the required U-factor.

This is something you should discuss with your window contractor before the windows are ordered, rather than discovering after installation that your windows don't qualify.

Step 2: Have the Windows Professionally Installed

The program specifically states that self-installed windows do not qualify for the rebate.

Your replacement windows therefore need to be installed professionally.

The program terms also state that applicable licensed contractors must hold an active Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor license.

Step 3: Keep the NFRC Label From Each Window

This is an important detail that homeowners could easily overlook.

You need to submit a copy of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) label from each replacement window as part of your rebate documentation.

These labels document important information about the window's energy performance, including its U-factor.

Don't throw these labels away after installation.

If you're replacing several windows, keep the labels together until the rebate application has been completed.

Step 4: Get an Itemized Invoice From Your Contractor

You'll also need a dated, itemized contractor invoice.

According to the current rebate application, the invoice should include information such as:

• Installer contact information
• Installation date
• Rooms where the windows were installed
• Window manufacturer and type
• U-factor of each window
• Quantity of windows
• Window sizes
• Material and labor costs
• Total amount paid by the homeowner

This documentation helps the rebate administrator confirm that the installed windows actually meet the program requirements.

Step 5: Complete the Rebate Application

Next, complete the ENERGY STAR Certified Triple Pane Window Rebate Application.

You'll provide basic information about your home, utility account, heating system and the replacement windows that were installed.

The application can currently be submitted through Energize Connecticut's online rebate system or mailed with the required supporting documents.

Step 6: Submit Everything Before the Deadline

Qualifying windows must be purchased and installed between January 1 and December 31, 2026.

For the 2026 program, mail-in rebate applications must be postmarked by February 27, 2027.

Don't wait until the deadline, though. It's much easier to complete the application while your invoice, NFRC labels and installation information are still readily available.

When Do You Receive the Rebate?

Once an eligible application has been submitted and approved, the program says to allow up to 90 days for payment.

Applications with missing information may take longer to process.

The application also allows the rebate check to be made payable to either:

• The homeowner, or
• The installing contractor

If the rebate is assigned to the contractor, additional documentation is required.

Do New Construction Windows Qualify?

No.

This particular $100 Connecticut window rebate is for replacement windows in existing homes.

Windows being installed as part of new construction do not qualify.

Can I Install the Windows Myself and Get the Rebate?

No.

Energize Connecticut specifically states that self-installed windows do not qualify.

That makes choosing your contractor especially important. You want an installer who can not only properly install the windows, but also provide the detailed documentation you'll need when applying for the rebate.

Are Double-Pane Windows Eligible for the $100 Rebate?

There is an important distinction here.

Your existing windows can be double-pane windows, but the new replacement windows need to be qualifying triple-pane windows.

The program allows homeowners to replace:

• Single-pane windows
• Single-pane windows with storms
• Double-pane windows

with qualifying ENERGY STAR certified triple-pane windows.

So if you currently have older double-pane windows, you may still be eligible.

Why Consider Triple-Pane Windows?

The $100 rebate can make upgrading to triple-pane windows more attractive, but the rebate isn't the only potential benefit.

Triple-pane windows use three panes of glass rather than two, creating additional insulating space within the window.

Depending on the window and home, upgrading may help with:

No.

A Home Energy Solutions visit is recommended, but not required for this particular replacement window rebate.

You can therefore work directly with a qualifying window contractor to determine whether your existing windows and proposed replacements meet the rebate requirements.
